Hey everybody! Today I want to tell you more about one of the best rural locations I’ve shot at this year. I met Lukas, a Cuba City Senior, at his grandparents farm in South Wayne, Wisconsin. I love working in small town locations with big meaning, and nothing does that better than a family farm. Not only was this a terrific location, but Lukas was such a wonderful person to work with.
rural farm senior session - location, location, location
With my own family being in the farming industry, I feel so at home and comfortable on a farm. That’s part of why I love this location so much! The other reason I love these beautiful off-the-beaten-path locations is because they provide some of the best opportunities to capture amazing, and personable photographs. For instance, we were able to capture Lukas shooting at clay targets during this session. No other location provides the space, and permission to capture some of these fantastic photos. If you are a trap-shooting senior looking to capture some action shots there is no better place than the family farm.
Of course if you are hoping to do a senior farm session, you’d have to include some farming equipment! This rural country senior session featured some pretty amazing props including a tractor that Lukas’s mom learned to drive on. It is so special to include sentimental items during a photoshoot, and it’s even better when a location provides all the props you need to make a photoshoot memorable. Not only were we able to include the family tractor, but we were also able to capture some adorable cattle in the background of a few pictures. One of my favorite ways to personalize pictures is to incorporate that rural environment, and create an experience that is unique for every senior. Other locations on the farm that served as a great background were the rustic looking barn, an old collector’s truck, and a little shack with tons of antique signs.

Although we only got a few shots with the pup, I know that each picture with a pet is something to cherish throughout the years, and I love when seniors bring pets for their pictures. Being a dog-mom of two, I’m well-versed in how to interact with everyone’s pets, and would be more than happy to work to include any senior’s pet during future shoots.
This was an amazing session with another amazing 2024 senior. If you are ever looking for a photographer to work with you on the family farm, I am more than willing to travel to capture these spectacular locations, and work with any pets, or other animals. I’d love to be your rural photographer. To book your senior experience please visit the website or follow me on the 'GRAM.
