The most asked question I get is "When should I book my senior portrait session"?
I typically shoot senior sessions between June-October, however, this is completely up to you. Senior sessions can be done any time of the year.
Things to consider when making this decision:
1. Do you have a yearbook deadline? Typically yearbook will need images as soon as October or as late as March. Make sure you check with your yearbook staff.
2. Are you on a sports team with a busy schedule? Does this schedule start in August? Football typically starts 2nd week and Volleyball starts in the 3rd week of August. My recommendation is to get your senior session prior to these dates.
3. Does foliage matter? Do you want fall leaves, green leaves, winter snow, tall grass, wheat fields, daisy fields, etc? The foliage available is different at various times of the year.
4. Do you prefer summer clothing, shorts, tank tops, summer dresses, or sweaters, scarves, jeans, and warmer clothing. You are not going to want to wear a sweater to a session in July when the heat index is 95 degrees.
My recommendation is to schedule your senior session a minimum of 3 months in advance. Decide on your outfits, allow enough time to make clothing purchases, and or contact school personnel for sports jerseys.
